Scattered thoughts, in no particular order.  Or since this is the South, I guess we should say they are scattered, smothered and covered...

Meeting Tonight - Thursday 4/2, social time starts 6:30, meeting starts 6:45 (because your chair works on the other side of town and doesn't get out of work until after 6).  At the usual location 607 Pennington Ave.

Runoff Election  is right now. Today is the LAST DAY OF EARLY VOTING.  There is no weekend voting because this is Easter weekend.  So today and Tuesday 4/7 are it.  I suspect that if you are reading this email, then you have already voted.  If you have not, please do so today!  And then, I need you to double or triple your vote by calling friends and neighbors who you suspect have likely forgotten to vote and beg them or threaten them until they go vote.  Offer a ride, make it a lunch date, I don't care, just get them to the polls!

Polls are open 8-6:30 today and 7am-7pm on Tues.  If you vote today, you do it at the Elections Office, if you vote Tuesday you go to your polling place.

Volunteer for Shawn's Campaign - I spoke to Shellie, Shawn's volunteer coordinator, and here is what she needs:  1. Phone banking. See the mobilize link below. They are phone banking every night from now through Tuesday.  2. Canvassing. Face to face engagement is the best way to activate a voter, go to the campaign HQ and they will get you started.  3. Signs out everywhere. This one is really an easy lift, they have tons of signs at the campaign headquarters. They don't do any good unless they are in the ground somewhere, and we would love to have Shawn's signs absolutely everywhere before Tuesday, so please grab a half-dozen signs and put them out.

Speaking of signs, that reminds me, we need to put Shawn's signs up outside every polling place Monday night so people see them on election day.  I would LOVE to have volunteers to put signs out by the polls closest to their houses.  For the election last month, Wendy Davis and I did it all in the early AM before polls opened, and that was a chore. If you can put signs up at your polling place Monday night, please contact us through the FCDEMs facebook page.

Also in this runoff is GA Senate seat 53, which was Colton Moore's seat.  We have the opportunity to vote in a Democrat by the name of Jack Zibluck, so if you are in the parts of Floyd County that are state sen. 53, please vote for Jack.  Confused about what state senate district you're in?  Well, easiest way to tell is if Jack is on your ballot, you are in district 53!

May Primaries - As soon as we finish this runoff, it will be time for the primary for the general election.  We have some local candidates running, which is very exciting.  We have Shonna Bailey running for County Commissioner and Sonja Law for County school board.  For state office we have Rasmus Jensen running for GA House District 5, Holly Chaney for GA House District 12, and me, Vincent Mendes running for GA House District 13.  All of those house districts include parts of Floyd County.

I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of now.  See you tonight.
