The Court of Appeals is the intermediate appellate court in Georgia, statewide appellate jurisdiction of all cases except those involving constitutional questions, murder, and habeas corpus cases where original appellate jurisdiction lies with the Supreme Court.
A progressive Court of Appeals candidate will focus on safeguarding constitutional rights, including voting access and reproductive freedom. They challenge the conservative status quo, emphasizing equity, civil rights, and a more expansive interpretation of state constitutional protections in an era of heightened partisan judicial elections.
There are three Court of Appeals incumbents on the May 19 ballot, all appointed by Gov. Brian Kemp. Two of the races are contested, by Will Wooten and Fatima Harris Felton.

Will Wooten is the Georgia Deputy District Attorney leading the White-Collar Crimes unit. He co-founded and led District Attorney Fani Willis’ LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee and served on the team that prosecuted President Donald Trump on election interference charges.
Will is running for the Georgia Court of Appeals because he believes judges must be independent, principled, and loyal to the Constitution. When the rights of everyday Georgians are threatened or ignored, the courts must stand as the last line of defense for individual liberty and the rule of law.

Fatima Harris Felton believes that the most intimate medical decisions belong to women and their families, not the government. She is running as a defender of our constitutional right to privacy, reproductive freedom, and improving maternal health outcomes across Georgia. Felton's platform is based on her belief that the fundamental right to vote was paid for with the blood of her ancestors. Fatima is running to aggressively push back against voter suppression, fight disenfranchisement tactics, and guarantee equal access to the ballot box for every Georgian.
